Melonie’s Instagram testimony has gone viral. While wearing her cap and gown from Emory Law School she shared that growing up, she was in special education classes however, she excelled in high school in college.

Despite having excellent grades, Melonie shares that she soon found herself pregnant and in an abusive relationship. She even had a stint of homelessness and often had little to no money while in law school as a single mother.

Now that’s she’s withstood life’s storm, Melonie is sharing her story in hopes of being an inspiration to others.

La’Porsha Renae was in hot water for saying she didn’t “agree” with the “LGBT lifestyle” when asked for her two cents on Mississippi’s anti-LGBT bill. The American Idol runner-up is a Mississippi girl.

Here’s what she said:

“This is how I feel about the LGBT community: They are people just like us. They’re not animals as [Manny Pacquiao] stated before. They’re people with feelings. Although all of us may not agree with that particular lifestyle for religious reasons, whatever the reason is, you still treat each other with respect. Everybody is a human being. We should be able to coexist with one another.

After trying for ten months to reach a fair contract, nearly 40,000 Verizon workers from Massachusetts to Virginia will go on strike at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13 if a fair agreement is not reached by then. The Verizon strike will be by far the largest work stoppage in the country in recent years.

“We’re standing up for working families and standing up to Verizon’s corporate greed,” said CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor. “If a hugely profitable corporation like Verizon can destroy the good family-supporting jobs of highly skilled workers, then no worker in America will be safe from this corporate race to the bottom.”
