This week has been a whirlwind of emotions, to say the least. Over the past 24 hours, the Internet has become a never-ending stream of the senseless, disturbing murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castille.

In addition to grieving over the continued attacks on people of color at the hands of the police, the recent police shootings in Dallas are enough to make one feel disheartened.

However, in the wake of such tragedy writer and podcaster Heben Nigatu created the hashtag #CarefreeBlackKids2K16 as a means to relieve the tension and burden of the week’s past events. With the hashtag, Twitter users are sharing videos of Black children displaying their joy, humor, intelligence, and overall greatness in spite of the turbulent times we live in.

Kai Kitchen Unjustly Arrested On Reckless Driving Charge

The recent arrest of a Hampton University honors grad is sparking outrage.

Kai Kitchen’s mother is asking for help after she says her daughter was stopped 3 times within 30 minutes by an officer while driving from Virginia to California.

Kai’s now being held without bond for a misdemeanor reckless driving charge and she wasn’t allowed a phone call until 15 hours after she was taken in.

Do they REALLY have this girl locked up on a traffic charge??? Also, it’s pretty clear that this officer was targeting her.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Here’s to hoping they get justice for Kai!
