Elevator Pitch
BLK + GRN is a marketplace that sells Black-owned high-quality, toxic-free products.
Tell us about your business. What inspired you to get into it, what you sell/service you offer, what makes your business stand out and how it impacts you, your community or the environment.
BLK + GRN is a marketplace of all-natural products by Black artisans. I launched it after learning that the products marketed to Black people are often more toxic and full of harmful ingredients. It’s my ultimate desire to help black entrepreneurs thrive and to build a community of conscious people more aware of what they put on their bodies and use in their homes. From beauty to hygiene, cleaning products, ambiance, baby trinkets to men’s care. BLK + GRN sells it all.
How would you use the FedEx Small Business Grant money to make a significant impact on your business?
I’m also a mother and a wife. My family and I were involved in a tragic life-threatening car accident in July 2019.
This accident left me with a traumatic brain injury and really derailed BLK+GRN. I have been unable to go to work as a Professor because of my accident, and my salary was cut 40%. I have to pull the missing part of my salary from BLK + GRN.
I need to grow, so I will invest in search engine optimization, social media ads, and building affiliate partnerships to drive growth.
