Two spelling systems are used for the Jamaican language below. The first, ‘Chaka-Chaka’, is based on English spelling, which is notoriously irregular. The second, ‘Prapa-Prapa’, is the consistent, specialist system designed by the Jamaican linguist Frederic Cassidy.
